How it all started.
FIRST DATE – DECEMBER 2016
Sportsmen’s Lodge --- Firefly ---- 4100 Bar.
Started with a half blind date. . (Frank was shown a picture. Trisha declined the offer to be shown a picture and just went.) Frank was very early (he still is to this day, but he’s never the first one ready to leave the house.)
What was supposed to be a quick meet up for drinks (Trish had plans after) ended up as an all-night adventure that ended with the two of them salsa dancing outside Trisha’s apartment til sunrise.
TRAVEL.
Yes please.
Their first big trip together was to a close friends’ wedding in 2018 to Guatemala. But it was a year later was on a trip to the Netherlands and Scotland in 2019, for another dear friend’s wedding, that Frank decided he was going to ask Trisha to spend the rest of their lives together.
A direct quote from Frank on the trip sealing the deal: “We were away for almost a month and she only cried once.”
FUN FACT: The first time Frank ever saw Trisha cry was when they watched the Yankees retire Derek Jeter’s jersey on ESPN.
PROPOSAL
Best Laid Plans.
Frank decided to propose in December 2019 because December has always been a special month for them. He arranged with Trisha’s best friend Audra (MOH) to have the surprise proposal photographed at sunset at the Valencia Hotel in La Jolla, a place that he loved since he was a kid. Unfortunately, Trisha got a last-minute audition for godforsaken “LUCIFER” and moved the time they were going to leave until later. Frank’s meticulously laid plan…
was now blown.
By the time Frank brought Trisha out onto their room’s ocean front balcony, it was pitch dark. He thought it would be illuminated by the moon. It was not. Frank was down on one knee and Trisha could not see a single thing. Once Frank convinced Trisha he was, in fact, proposing, she accepted and they were both ecstatic. Immediately followed by Trisha’s realization that her insistence on going to the audition must have messed up Frank’s proposal plans and she immediately started to CRY.
Q&A
What is your favorite quality about your partner?
F: Ability to roll with the punches. That we’re kindred spirits.
T: That he laughs SO hard at my jokes.
What’s your favorite outfit of theirs?
F: Black and red button up. With jeans and turquoise necklace. Or the Bonnie Prince jacket from Scotland.
T: Wool knit sweater, with vest. Or anything with high tops.
What’s your favorite joke?
F: I don’t know she makes me laugh all the time. Very funny.
T: Anything but “America Runs on Duncan.”
What is the most favorite meal Frank’s ever made for you?
T: He’s the best chef in the world to me. He cooks for all of us. And he feeds me pretty much every night, gourmet but -- I think the best meal was the first time he did the feast of the 7 fishes for Christmas Eve. Because it was tremendous but also he did it for me because he knew I was missing home.
What surprises you the most about Trisha?
F: When Trisha deals with tough stuff, be it with life, work, or a combo of both, it clearly affects her. But it’s amazing how quickly she regains her footing and does what needs to be done to overcome those obstacles.
Do you think your partner is easy to work/collaborate with?
F: Absolutely. She’s super smart with storytelling. And she comes at it from a different background than me. So, when we combine our strengths it’s a great collaborative process.
T: Yes, because he’s so talented and usually very patient.
Who is more stubborn?
F: It’s a coin toss. We’re both the bull sign.
T: Look, we both are Tauruses and I’m not even a zodiac person. But we always listen to each other, try to work on our communication and apologize.
Who spends more money?
F: Trisha buys things more consistently. I go on hunting trips.
T: Whatever, probably me. But Frank is good for big ticket items.
Who gives better presents?
F: I like giving gifts, what can I say?
T: Frank.
Who was cooler in High School?
F: Definitely Trisha.
T: Me.
Who is a better driver?
F: We’re both good. But I also drive a bunch in the mountains. So maybe me???
T: Both good drivers, I’m better at parking. And finding parking. Plus I don’t think he’s ever made a left turn.
Who is a harder worker?
F: We both get after the grind and enjoy it. So it’s a good energy.
T: We are both incredibly hard workers. We love our work and we are each other’s biggest gang gang -- because you really don’t want to deal with the other one if you mess with one of us.
Who initiated the first kiss?
F: She kissed me and spit whisky in my mouth. It was amazing.
T: Me.
Who will cry on the big day?
F: Both of us.
T: I think we both will for sure.
